Savannah Technical College seeks a full-time Mathematics Instructor for our Liberty Campus located in Hinesville, GA. The successful candidate will be based at the Liberty Campus, but may be required to travel to and teach classes at any Savannah Technical College campus location. This individual will report to the Mathematics Department Head in the General Studies Division. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Instructing students, developing program syllabi, goals, and objectives;
- Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives;
- Ensuring student learning outcomes are attained and appropriately recorded;
- Requesting and maintaining supplies and equipment;
- Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports;
- Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences;
- Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom area;
- Advising students;
- Meeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students;
Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, student advisement and registration. Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching days between campus locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related field, with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Mathematics obtained from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
- Excellent human-relations, interpersonal skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will be given to those candidates who possess or are nearing completion of a terminal degree in Mathematics or related area.
- Twelve (12) months documented experience in teaching Mathematics courses at a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
- Three (3) years or more of full-time, paid post-secondary teaching experience strongly preferred.
- Proficient in the use of Banner and Blackboard.
- Active participation in appropriate professional/occupational organizations.
Physical Demands
Work is typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with intermittent sitting or walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for up to three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. May frequently lift and carry lightweight objects. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
