LATAN seeking a Rehabilitation Counselor to join its Assistive Technology/Rehab Service program to lead one of its AT Demo Centers in Louisiana. Primary Duties will include:
- Working with patients, family members/caregivers, therapists, physicians, and referral sources in the field to determine and provide the most appropriate AT needed to gain independence at home, at work, or at school.
- Leading AT programs, including Demonstrations, Alternative Financing, Reuse and Acquisition.
- Conducting face-to-face meetings to educate therapists, physicians, funding sources, and the client to available and appropriate equipment, technologies, funding guidelines, and
- Maintain and build new business relationships with referral sources and offices
- Conducting AT assessments for specific environments on behalf of various state agency partners, such as LRS.
- Maintaining complete, accurate case notes, files, and written summaries of services provided.
- Preparing final reports according to standards and requirements of the referring agency.
- Participating in policy and program development for rehab services.
Requirements
- Knowledge of and ability to follow agency and department policies & procedures.
- Knowledge of the medical and psychosocial aspects of various disabilities and functional limitations.
- Knowledge of the vocational and clinical rehabilitation process.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing; knowledge of using an electronic record is a plus.
- Ability to solve problems and resolve issues using good judgment.
- Knowledge of community resources and strong advocacy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be tolerant and work well in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to pressure and change, and to maintain flexibility when working with different populations, programs, and issues.
- Ability to be flexible and to multi-task.
- Ability to attend to detail -- behavioral properties and events of clients and personnel.
- Knowledge of rules of confidentiality.
- Ability to make presentations to individuals and groups
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation Services or related health field plus a minimum of 3 years of experience or enrollment in Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling Program with at least one year of experience working in the field.
- Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or related allied health and disability studies field.
- CRC preferred
- ATP preferred
