SUMMARY

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for partnering with BECU internal customers and other Learning and Development team members to maintain current Instructor-led, virtual, and online training curriculum to support the efforts of BECU employees in the consistent delivery of exceptional member service. This role will be responsible for the management of New Employee Training, or learning programs for new hires, including delivering training sessions, classroom facilitation, mentoring, and coaching. This individual will also maintain existing training needs by providing support to ongoing training design and development for organizational changes. In addition, this role will serve as a content reviewer/editor/creator and ensure consistency and adherence to style guides and team design standards. Other duties include participation in communication plans and in documenting processes and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
  • Manage Content Maintenance Feedback Loop process by completing content change requests and style corrections within stated Service Level agreements. Serve as a content and style editor during review and implementation design phases.
  • Provide training support and facilitation as needed for new or enhanced products, services, processes and procedures. Update and develop training materials with input from subject matter experts, colleagues, and relevant/existing training documents.
  • Manage and deliver various classroom training and facilitation initiatives including systems training, onboarding efforts, external training, vendor partnerships, and others. Delivering classroom or online training sessions must be done in a timely and professional manner.
  • Fulfill basic Instructional Design duties as allowed, including content development, script writing, leaders’ guides, activities, storyboarding, assessment creation, and evaluation. Prepare clear learning objectives that reflect required performance.
  • Contribute to the refinement and improvement of classroom and online instruction, instructional development standards and methodology, and exploration of new training techniques. This may involve using performance measurement resources (such as Speech Analytics and Service Point) to identify trends and reduce learning gaps. Recommend procedure, product/service enhancements and workflow improvements to provide the most responsive and efficient service to members and internal customers, while in compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with internal business units to ensure that all training updates and changes support the strategic positioning statement, competencies, and organizational and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Partner with Knowledge Management and/or other Business Units to ensure all changes impacting the new hire training content are identified and updated in a timely manner.
  • Be familiar with all BECU products and services and the associated forms, policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Keep current and continue education in training techniques, performance improvement, knowledge management, learning design, adult learning principles, human resources development, program management, and organizational development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors’ degree in Instructional Design, Human Resource Development or related discipline, or equivalent work or educational experience required.
  • Minimum two years of Instructional Design experience at BECU, another financial institution, or another industry with similar regulatory controls and service expectations. Alternatively, 2 years of formal Coaching/Mentor experience in BECU with substantial subject matter expertise will also be considered.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with and knowledge of facilitation, team building, and goal setting to adult audiences required. Ability to organize training materials using adult learning concepts and theories, facilitating hands-on experiential learning and ensuring performance outcomes required.
  • Experience using authoring systems such as Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or Articulate Studio preferred. Willingness to keep learning and stay current in Learning and Development field.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate and provide customer service required.
  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
  • Moderate travel required.
