Job Summary

The Goddard School of Meridian is hiring for an Assistant Teacher in our young toddler classroom working with children 12 months through 18 months in classroom of 10 students.

An assistant teacher at The Goddard School will work directly with a consistent lead teacher and is responsible for helping to establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment. Additionally, an assistant teacher is responsible for working with a lead teacher and in conjunction with the entire faculty.

The Goddard School is a play-based, child directed environment where our teachers plan and implement lesson plans daily. The ideal candidate (experience preferred) must love young children and possess great people skills as well as be a high-energy, enthusiastic, flexible and dependable teaching professional. Experience is preferred, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities and Duties

Assistant teachers support our lead staff with daily classroom management tasks, implementing lesson plans, and custodial care for children 12-18 months. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment
  • Provide excellent customer service to all children, families and co-workers
  • Assist in creating an attractive, positive classroom environment
  • Assist in planning, supervising and implementing curriculum
  • Follow classroom daily schedule

Qualifications and Skills

Experience preferred but is not mandatory. The Goddard School at Meridian will work with an ideal candidate in achieving one of the following educational requirements:

  • a private academic teaching certificate for nursery school through kindergarten or early childhood education;
  • proof of the teacher's current enrollment in a CDA credentialing program;
  • proof of the teacher's current enrollment in an accredited associate’s or bachelor’s degree program in early childhood education or a related field.
