Principal Responsibilities:

It is expected that this staff person is responsible for the standardization and implementation of the ECC curriculum for 3, 4 and 5 year old classrooms to include philosophy, NAEYC standards and coordinate with Judaic programming. Provide evaluation and programming information to Director, teachers, and parents for the overall benefit of the ECC.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Member Services
    • Create a warm, safe and welcoming environment for all members, guests, and staff
    • Act as JCC/ECC representative in the community
    • Act as BFAECC representative in Great by 8 organization Programming
    • Works with the Director and Assistant Director on providing curriculum vision and leadership for the school
    • Monitors the supplies needed for the classrooms and assist with the ordering of needed materials
    • Assists in providing supervision for teachers including goal setting, observations, and remediation as needed
    • Serves as a curriculum leader by assisting in the review of lesson plans, documentation and assessments, by modeling teaching approaches and curriculum implementation, by observing in classrooms and by giving teachers feedback on all components of curriculum and assessment
    • Assist teachers with the development of strategies to improve facilitating children's learning and serve as resource person in all aspects of the classroom, including curriculum development and implementation, assessment and documentation, child guidance, creating a positive learning environment and communicating with families.
    • Maintain and implement current working knowledge of appropriate Early Childhood curriculum (Creative Curriculum) based on developmental philosophy, NAEYC Standards and Judaic programming
    • Working with the ECC staff to enhance and enrich the curriculum by:
    • Meeting with individual classroom and kindred teams on a monthly basis
    • Maintaining an annual log of classroom discussions and observations in order to measure changes and outcomes o Utilizing creative methods to enhance the curriculum as appropriate
    • Keep abreast of all curriculum programs and opportunities in order to stay current in the field
    • Observe, document and report information pertaining to any unusual or special needs, circumstances or situations within the group
    • Help to develop a vibrant Jewish environment exposing children and parents to Jewish culture and tradition in an age appropriate manner
    • Coordinate and maintain NAEYC status (annual report/surveys/coordinate reaccreditation)
    • Maintain a home/school connection by: Reviewing and sending classroom Windows on a weekly basis
    • Sending Curriculum Bulletins/Snapshots throughout the school year
    • Communicate with families special events/activities
    • Recruiting parent volunteers for school functions
    • Oversee, schedule and coordinate Afternoon Enrichment Program for 4's/TK
    • Coordinate special events, field trips and/or other learning opportunities for preschool
    • Create specials schedules for preschool
    • Recruit, tour and manage enrollment process for preschool (3's, 4's, TK) families
    • Maintain School Readiness status (completing Grant each year/point person)
    • Plan, together with the Director and Admin Team: Open Houses, Parents Night, new staff orientation and other ECC functions and events
    • Along with Director and Assistant Director, coordinate and support the ECC Ambassador Program
    • Help oversee ECC Camp and Vacation Programs Supervision
    • Supervision of teachers, substitutes and teacher aides assigned to team, including but not limited to discipline, scheduled meetings, training, mentoring, etc.
    • Develop agenda, schedule and conduct staff meetings
    • Provide NAEYC and State of CT licensing orientation to new staff members
    • Assist in recruitment and training of new staff
    • Provide input into all staff annual evaluations Facility Management
    • Ensure the care and cleaning of the equipment and classrooms are done
    • Work with maintenance team to ensure all equipment and ECC facilities are in working order; schedule repairs as needed Administration
    • Maintain all records and statistical reports in a timely and confidential manner
    • Maintain a caring relationship and proper communications with staff, children and parents, providing referrals to other resources as appropriate
    • Understand the regulations governing the operation of a child day care center under which the State of CT licenses the program. Accurately record information on administrative records as required by the State
    • Assist with the promotion and marketing of the ECC educational programs
    • Attend department and team meetings as required
    • Attend workshops/conferences for professional growth
    • Participate in JCC building responsibilities including but not limited to JCC events, open house, MOD, etc.
    • Coordinate and help with end of summer ECC shut-down and preparations for beginning of school year
    • Early Childhood Committee - attend meetings and help to develop agenda
    • Participate in Early Childhood Professional Development Team
    • Be familiar with programs and activities through Center
    • Perform the duties of the Director/Assistant Director when one/both are absent from work - as assigned
    • Willingness to perform other job duties, functions, responsibilities as needed, required or assigned Customer Service
    • Provide excellent customer service, both internally and externally
    • Resolve customer problems and conflicts
    • Responds promptly to customer needs
    • Solicit customer feedback to improve service

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

B.A. degree in Early Childhood or related field.M.A. degree in Early Childhood preferred.Individuals with equivalent work experience and appropriate training may be considered.

Experience:

5 years' experience working with young children

Licensure:

First Aid and CPR for children and Medication Administration

Epi-pen, can obtain training/certification after hire
