Payroll Practitioner Job Opening

Purpose:

Performs all activities necessary to process one or more payrolls and a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for manual checks, processing of new hire and termination payments. Although duties normally follow established procedures, responsibilities may include the ability to be able to problem solve as unforeseen issues arise. Works under general supervision.

Essential Duties:

• Review and ensure the accurate computation of pay and deductions on employee paychecks
• Knowledge of FLSA regulations
• The ability to interpret company policies and/or government regulations that affect payroll processing.
• Perform data entry on employee ACH accounts, tax elections and deductions.
• Reconcile timekeeping report from Kronos iSeries to ADP Vantage
• Answer inquiries from employees and vendors using good customer service skills
• Prepare files for upload into ADP Vantage that contain wages, deductions and tax adjustments.
• Audit and review preview registers and correct any errors to ensure the accuracy of payroll.
• Transfer employees and the relevant accumulators between pay groups and Federal I.D.’s.
• Prepare and write periodic reports for management using ADP Vantage report writer and/or Kronos iSeries
• Upload leave pay and any nontaxable wage amounts such as employee reimbursements.
• Prepare and issue paychecks.
• Maintain deduction records, as well as process payments to third party vendors for those deductions.
• Reconcile outstanding and stale dated checks.
• W2 preparation and processing.
• Ability to work holidays if needed.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and automated payroll processing services like ADP Vantage and Kronos iSeries
• Strong verbal/written communication and customer service skills
• Solid organizational skills with attention to detail
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the payroll field
• Strict confidentiality and trust is a must

Experience/Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field a plus
• 3-5 years years experience in payroll processing or accounting
• 3-5 years of related experience and normally requires specific accounting/payroll training
• Experience with Kronos iSeries, ADP Vantage

Licenses or Certifications:

• APA Fundamental Payroll Practitioner Certification
• APA Certified Payroll Professional Certification is a plus
