• Waterloo, IowaThis position assists with health continuing education courses and programs. Trains persons planning to enter the healthcare workforce in a variety of settings. Plans and conducts quality instruction in the classroom or lab setting. Arranges for, and presents web-based instruction in clinical settings and local healthcare facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensures integrity of content delivered in training is current, correct, and approved by the necessary regulatory bodies.
- Responsible for maintaining classroom integrity and student confidentiality.
- Teach according to principles of adult learning. Create engaging, interactive learning environment.
- Assess student progress by administering exams and assessment of skills demonstration.
- Identify new training topics and opportunities.
- Communicates in a timely, effective manner with Hawkeye Community College team and healthcare partners in the community.
- Assists in marketing the program(s) and/or curriculum to the community and/or area businesses.
- Assists and monitors services of multiple program(s) and/or site(s).
- Provides consultation in area of expertise and teach continuing education classes.
- Recruits part-time and short-term instructors.
- Develops new initiatives and programs to serve evolving healthcare field.
- Administers student assessments and tests.
- May be required to maintain student/participant/customer discipline and/or classroom management issues.
- Participates in appropriate college committees, workshops, and staff meetings.
- Maintains confidentiality and documentation as required by licensing boards and other regulatory bodies with licensing boards.
- Ensures integrity of data input into business software program including but not limited to contracts, proposals and pricing, instructors, events, room rentals, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered Nurse with a current, unencumbered license in Iowa or Iowa eligible.
- Two years of relevant work experience.
- Teaching or training experience
- Demonstrated ability to plan work and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work with diverse populations including students and staff.
- Represent the college positively to the community and regulatory organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Must be highly proficient using all Microsoft Office and/or Google programs.
- Ability to take initiative, follow through and work without close supervision.
- Excellent leadership and customer service skills.
- Ability to travel to and from work sites and meetings including evenings. Flexible schedule to teach daytime, and evening courses.
PREFERENCES:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working with community organizations.
- Experience working in long term care facilities.
- Current CPR, First Aid, ACLS, PALS, and Mandatory Reporter certifications.
