Position Summary:
Reports to the director, OA/CTS Project. Responsible for direct screening and recruitment of student candidates for enrollment, in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish and maintain liaison with public service agencies, organizations, schools and individuals who might refer eligible candidates to the Job Corps programs.
  • Prepare media advertising including radio, classifieds in daily newspapers and weekly circulars, newspapers articles, slide presentations and other media.
  • Interview interested candidates and obtain pertinent information.
  • Prepare documentation on potential students and review with DOL regional office and the center as applicable or necessary.
  • Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of service to students. Prepare related reports.
  • Coordinate transportation services for new enrollees.
  • Arrange reception of candidates upon entrance into the program.
  • Arrange and conduct pre-enrollment orientation and pre-arrival meeting.
  • Ensure applicants are prepared for arrival on center.
  • Follow up on student progress and terminations
  • Coordinated outreach assistance activities with community agencies such as the department of public welfare and school districts.
  • Assist in the development of new and revised policies and procedures affecting student recruitment.
  • Assist in community relations activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his / her capabilities as determined by management

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field; or Associate's degree and two years related experience required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency also required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
