REPORTS TO: Manager, QA, Compliance & Training

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: Support in vivo oncology studies in mice

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support all local new hires through communication of requirements, development of initial training schedules, presentation of general orientation classes
  • Develop, implement and conduct training modules and sessions with coordination of Laboratory Operations Management, including technical procedures
  • Develop and maintain training curriculums with Laboratory Operations Management
  • Perform annual and refresher training sessions
  • Assist in the SOP development and review process
  • Develop and manage the internship program and staff recruitment events
  • Manage training binders and training documentation
  • Serve as Coordinator for the AALAS Learning Library and IACUC Committee
  • Serve as audit team member, as directed
  • Assist with the AALAS Certification and continuing education program

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated and proven ability to perform common animal facility technical skills and procedures
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain documents within the Microsoft® suite, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to work effectively and productively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a strong sense of accountability, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, computer, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures
  • Ability to assist with other duties in a dynamic environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with preclinical in vivo pharmacology or oncology studies in mice
  • Minimum 6 years working in animal research environment, primarily with rodents
  • Bachelor’s degree and LATG certification required
  • ASR certification preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel
  • Must be able to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time using a computer in a typical office environment in a multi-level facility
  • Some activities require repetitive motion and reaching, pulling or pushing
  • In carrying out the duties of the job there will be frequent exposure to fumes and chemical hazards
  • Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
