Class Specifications
This part-time, seasonal position will organize and manage all dance classes offered through the City of Post Falls. Dancers will range in age from 3-16 with varying skill levels. This position is responsible for planning, instructing and supervising the dance classes under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator.
Examples of Work Duties
- Coordinates and leads nine (9), 45-minute classes; four (4) Thursday evenings and five (5) on Saturday;
- Explains and demonstrates instructional techniques and proper use of equipment;
- Promotes engaging participation and motivation;
- Prepares instructional material;
- Creates and maintains accurate records of participation, rosters, timesheets and costume orders,
- Prepares for recitals such as selecting music and costumes;
- Attends to injury and incident victims; provides assistance and first aid when necessary;
- Maintains order while handling disputes and enforces department rules and regulations;
- Completes all City/Department forms for supervisory review and action;
- Secures safety hazards and notifies Recreation Supervisor and/or Coordinator of needed correction.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with others;
- Ability to work independently;
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred;
- Satisfactory criminal background investigation per state law.
Acceptable Experience and Training
- High School graduate or equivalent;
- Valid driver's license;
- Previous experience working with the public and children highly recommended.
