Essential Duties

  • Creates and maintains a comprehensive recruitment plan for the School of Sustainability to support reaching overall enrollment goals.
  • Creates, analyzes, tracks progress, and shares various admissions reports, since this position is a results-driven position.
  • Supervises staff who conduct recruitment activities as a significant portion of their job and works closely with a team of staff who assist with various pieces of recruitment activities.
  • Provides oversight of the SOS@ program with local high schools.
  • Oversees school participation in summer outreach education camps utilized to share information about opportunities in the sustainability field.
  • Coordinates various outreach activities around sustainability concerns, professional education, and public engagement.
  • Oversees a recruitment budget and tracks expenses.
  • Works closely with leadership and others to identify recruitment needs and conducts research about other programs to have a good understanding of how we should differentiate our programs from other programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining a master calendar of recruitment events and activities as well as coordinating participation in and coverage for a wide variety of events and activities.
  • Research and identify high schools, community colleges, and sustainability-themed programs as resource pools for student recruitment into the School of Sustainability.
  • Identify possible partnerships and opportunities to speak publicly about School of Sustainability programs.
  • Works closely with ASU marketing and communications teams to create and implement recruitment and yield strategies (e.g., call, text, and ad campaigns, marketing materials, communication flow) to meet goals.
  • Uses a creative, innovative, and current approach to recruitment strategies.
  • Stays current with student, alumni, and faculty activities in order to generate and promote success stories through various media channels.
  • Serves as a lead recruiter and point of contact for prospective students.
  • Participates in recruitment and admissions meetings and serves as a liaison to ASU Admission Services.
  • Creates and delivers effective and engaging presentations to prospective students, parents, counselors, recruiters, and administrators.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests for information in Salesforce.
  • Assists with the coordination and marketing of scholarships used to recruit students.
  • Be willing to travel locally, in-state, and out-of-state as needed for recruitment activities (e.g., other ASU campuses, other schools and institutions, conferences, and events) and have a flexible work schedule (e.g., evenings and weekends).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the structure of academic programs in higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current recruitment practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic sustainability concepts and possible career outcomes for students with a degree in sustainability.
  • Experience in supervising, coordinating, and prioritizing work and activities of self and others.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse populations and cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PPT in particular), Adobe, google docs, google forms, and google sheets, Dropbox, and experience in adapting to new technology.
  • Experience with Salesforce for case management and recruitment.
  • Experience with Peoplesoft, AppXtender, and reporting tools such as Analytics and Dashboards (to review applications and student information)
  • Experience with basic project management, maintaining a master calendar of events and activities, and planning and organizing around critical deadlines, managing multiple details simultaneously.
  • Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to generate creative ideas and content for marketing pieces.
  • Evidence of being innovative, data-driven, and strategic.
  • Evidence of working effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities, tight cyclical deadlines and potentially conflicting outcomes.
  • Evidence of being detail-oriented and making decisions in line with organizational goals.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
