• Waterloo, IowaThis position manages and teaches Hawkeye’s Regional Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Coordinates other law enforcement training including the development and scheduling of non-credit and continuing education courses, program curriculum, providing reports, identifying and evaluating instructors, acquiring and maintaining equipment, and assisting with program marketing. Advises and provides leadership to students and maintains program standards and guidelines to meet the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy rules as per Iowa Code Chapter 80B.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Establishes and maintains open communication and collaboration with the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and the Academy Council.
- Ensures high-quality classroom instruction and leadership to the students.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates continuing education programs for law enforce professionals.
- Formulates and maintains curriculum for assigned courses, including non-credit and continuing education courses.
- Supervises and advises students and instructors.
- Maintains cooperative relationships with the Deans, supervisors, faculty, the Advisory Committee, all divisions of the College, prospective employers, and the community.
- Maintains confidentiality and documentation as required by the regulatory bodies.
- Ensures integrity of data input into business software program including but not limited to courses, students, grades, attendance, pricing, instructors, events, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree and three years of work experience in law enforcement or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hold or be eligible for such professional license as required by the State of Iowa.
- Experience with or commitment to various educational and training needs within the law enforcement community.
- Demonstrates exemplary teamwork skills and communication skills with supervisors, program faculty, Advisory Committee, other divisions of the College, and the community.
- Ability to formulate and maintain curriculum for assigned courses and employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Must be knowledgeable of current national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and the requirements for state certification/licensure.
- Must be highly proficient using all Microsoft Office and/or Google programs.
PREFERENCES:
- Bachelor’s degree.
