• Portsmouth, New HampshireThe Edgewood Centre has an opening for a qualified Toddler Teacher and Associate Teacher in our Early Learning Center. This is a full time position with benefits that include health, dental, 401K, short term disability, discounted childcare, and earned vacation and sick time. Teachers at Edgewood enjoy working with small groups of children within a team of 8-10 teachers. We strive to maintain a peaceful and pleasant environment for children, families, and our staff. The best candidate for this position will be energetic, team-oriented, patient, and value the experience of teaching young children.
The Edgewood Centre provides care and education for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years, year-round. Our program takes pride in upholding developmentally appropriate practices and has implemented our programs with attention to the different needs of each individual child.
We are proud to be a part of the Edgewood Centre, a privately-owned long-term care facility in Portsmouth, and we are looking for teachers who will enjoy participating in our exciting intergenerational program with the residents and children.
Minimum Qualifications:
18 years of age; have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, and meet ONE of the following criteria:
(1) A minimum of 9 credits in child development, early childhood, or elementary education or other field of study focused on children, including at least one 3 credit course in child growth and development from a regionally accredited college
(2) A minimum of 1000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program and documentation of successful completion of a 2-year vocational child care course
(3) Current certification as a Para II educator by the Department of Education
