Bright Futures Learning Center at Rocking Horse Farm is currently hiring for a Lead Preschool Teacher (6244 51st Avenue South, Fargo, ND 58104)! Position Summary:

Responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child enrolled in a group, in accordance with Bright Futures Learning Center’s policies, procedures, and benchmarking standards

  • Develop weekly and monthly lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate for preschool children to ensure the children in the classroom have a fun learning environment
  • Meet regularly with Assistant Teacher(s) and Aides to develop and discuss weekly plans and activities.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and support to teacher assistants, teacher aides, substitutes and volunteers, which include sharing daily program plans and discussing goals for children.
  • Maintain records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and compliance with Bright Futures Standards.
  • Ensure the daily care of every child by following all licensing guidelines and implementing all company standards.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and support to teacher assistants, teacher aides, substitutes and volunteers, which include sharing daily program plans and discussing goals for children.
  • Communicate directly with parents and prospective parents to achieve success for the child.
  • Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth.
  • Conduct individual parent conferences at least twice a year to discuss each child’s growth and development.
  • Assist the Center Director in providing orientation and training for new staff, substitutes and volunteers.
  • Set up and maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
  • Responsible for implementing of Bright Futures performance standards, policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood development center including developmentally appropriate practices for a set age group.

  • Are self-starters and have many responsibilities at our Center

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree or Higher in Early Childhood Education/Child Development/Human Development and Family Science, Early Childhood Special Education or related field
  • Ability to relate positively to young children, parents and staff.
  • Strong working knowledge of Bright Futures Performance Standards and
  • State licensing guidelines and regulations, including monitoring and evaluation
  • Prefer knowledge of High/Scope and Creative curriculums.
  • Demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
  • Effective and strong communication skills (orally and written)
  • Demonstrate an ability to work successfully with community-based agencies and building partnerships.
  • Demonstrated supervision skills

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety

OTHER:

  • Criminal Background Check
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Annual training hours (13 hours)
  • Completion of Basic Child Care Class “Getting Started”
  • Registration on the Growing Futures Registry (growingfuturesnd.org)
  • Monthly budgetary card for classroom supplies (if age group applicable)
