Preschool Teacher Job Opening

Summary of Responsibilities:

Provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while that are in the Early Childhood environment (classroom, outdoor play areas, and field trips). Promote the social, emotional, physical and cogitative development of enrolled children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. To develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessment on progress and facilitate transition into Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide a welcoming and friendly classroom environment for all children, parents and visitors, including a regularly updated educational and informative Parent Board.
• Create fun innovative and engaging age-appropriate lesson plans that reflect High Reach for Preschool curriculum and weekly themes.
• Assist and supervise children during all activities, plus counsel children as needed using positive and appropriate discipline techniques.
• Ensure that the appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of classroom are appropriately maintained.
• Complete and submit to the Early Childhood Director all classroom paperwork, such as daily reports, accident reports and attendance records.
• Provide support and direction to the Assistant Teacher to ensure a productive and orderly classroom.
• Communicate with parents in a friendly and effective manner, including greeting them by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback and providing regular updates on their child's development and classroom happenings.
• Identify opportunities and/or problems in the classroom and the center and resolving them in a cooperation with the Assistant Teacher and/or the Early Childhood Director.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding information regarding families, co-workers and self.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

• Certificate of Mastery (CoM) if no Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
• Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
• Must be able to read, understand, apply and retain knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and policies.
• Outstanding organizational abilities and must be able to prioritize.
• Productive and effective time management, flexibility in responding to a variety of work tasks. Proficiency with basic information technology.
• Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time in order to properly perform the assigned job duties.
• Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
• Ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory in daily classroom activities, and adapt to the individual needs of children.
• Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with families.

Certifications:

• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Active Driver’s License
