The WVU Collegiate Recovery Program, a unit within the Division of Student Life at West Virginia University, is seeking applications for a Program Coordinator. The WVU Collegiate Recovery Program provides individual and group support, academic advocacy, social events and activities, service/outreach activities, recovery wellness initiatives, outdoor adventure/recreation coordination and informed referrals for WVU students in recovery and students who support recovery. The Program Coordinator will serve as an integral member of the WVU Collegiate Recovery Program and will primarily provide recovery support services for WVU students in recovery with a focus on student programming, assistance with outreach efforts on campus, and help students navigate their academic experience while exploring and/or sustaining their recovery.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
- Assist with the development and facilitation of programs that support recovery, wellness and interpersonal skills for students in recovery.
- Coordinate the operations of Serenity Place including the scheduling and programming of physical spaces and resources
- Assist the Director in the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of collegiate recovery programming.
- Implement strategies to promote WVU Collegiate Recovery Program to the university campus community in conjunction with the director
- Participate in other projects and activities as appropriate and assigned, such as: assisting with the student organization, Mountaineers in Recovery, participating in student-led initiatives and serving in Office of Student Wellness, Student Life and WVU efforts and programs.
- Work cooperatively with the Adventure WV program to create, instruct and support adventure and outdoor based programming for students in recovery. Assists in the recruitment and training of student trip leaders to operate these programs. Assists in other Adventure WV programs as requested and approved by the Director of Collegiate Recovery.
- Provide consultation to the director for improvements to policies and procedures, program goals, budget and other areas as necessary and available.
- Assist with the supervision and development of graduate students, student workers, interns and work study students at the Collegiate Recovery Program.
- Require weekend and evening hours to provide programming for students at critical times.
- Follow-up on students of individual concern.
Qualifications
- Masters in Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Public Health or Social Work.
- Two years of recovery-related experience in the following areas;
- Experience working on a college/university campus or mental health setting providing services to emerging adults.
- Experience providing informed referrals for people in recovery.
- Experience in developing and assessing educational and developmental programming.
- Experience in outdoor programming preferred
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
