POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for supporting the Finance Team in all aspects of daily accounting. This position is responsible for accurately reconciling all daily cash transactions as well as processing general batch accounting transactions. This position provides budget support through processing and monitoring of purchase order and purchasing card transactions. Additionally, this position provides daily support to the VP for Finance and Operations to ensure the Lakeland community is served in a timely, accurate, and customer-focused manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage daily cash transactions
  • Enter daily batch accounting transactions and journal entries
  • Assist in managing fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Process daily purchase orders
  • Reconcile monthly purchasing card transactions
  • Assist with month-close process
  • Assist with annual financial audit schedules
  • Assist in organization of contract and grant agreements
  • Provide back up support to Accounts Payable Coordinator and Assistant Controller
  • Assist the VP for Finance and Opearations in daily activities
  • Other duties as assigned

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & SKILLS

  • Associates degree (A.A.) in Accounting from a two-year technical program and zero to two years of general accounting experience, or a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Accounting from a four-year University with zero years of experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office;
  • Experience with a fully integrated business system a plus;
  • Analytical, financial, and problem solving skills are required;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with an ability to work within a team environment;
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
  • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities;
  • Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administration decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity;
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communication (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals;
  • Strong critical thinking skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk;
  • No or very limited physical effort required;
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
