• Ames, IowaThe Human Development and Family Studies department at Iowa State University is seeking qualified applicants to join our training/tech writing team as an Instructional Development Specialist (IDS). The IDS will take the lead on the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) of enhanced blended and elearning courses/materials provided through the Child Welfare Research and Training Project’s (CWRTP) long-standing contract with the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS). This individual will develop innovative learning solutions and course curricula, using the latest hardware, software (Captivate, C3 softworks, and others), and learning technology trends. The IDS will collaborate with trainers, programmers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to plan, develop, test, and evaluate instructional content, technical documents, and strategies for delivering training to adult learners. This individual will use proven adult learning methodologies, as well as a customized version of the ADDIE instructional design model, to blend tools and practices for self-paced, instructor-led, and virtual environments. In addition, the IDS will be responsible for writing, editing, and publishing a variety of training materials, job aides, and other technical documentation.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical and training skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a collegial environment. This position falls within an annual contract between Iowa State University and the Iowa DHS that has been in existence since 1991. Required Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 1 year of related experience.
Supplemental Required Education and Experience Preferred Education and Experience- Work experience developing eLearning materials
- Work experience utilizing instructional design software such as Adobe Captivate or other similar products
- Work experience collaborating with teams to complete projects
This position is located in Des Moines, Iowa.
All accrued vacation must be used during the term of this appointment, any unused vacation will be forfeited upon termination from Iowa State University.
