This is a full-time position working 32 hours per week. The hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm.

Scope:
  • Lead volunteer group for Ethos Hospice program to ensure patient and families have strong volunteer support. Designs training in accordance with ACHC, Medicare and NPHCO standards. This includes volunteer orientation, ongoing volunteer training, developing new ways to provide volunteer support and programming and coordinating volunteer visits.
  • Recruit new volunteers for the Hospice agency by collaborating with marketing team and community partners.
  • Work closely with patients and their families, volunteers, and staff. Work as liaison between volunteers and staff members to coordinate volunteer visits. Assist in the success of all Hospice ancillary services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Management – Serve as point of contact for Hospice volunteers while working closely with social workers and chaplain. Recruit and motivate volunteers to achieve mission and enhance lifestyles of Hospice patients. Provide orientation and training to Hospice volunteers. Recognize volunteers for their work and efforts and supports them while volunteering. Prepares volunteer cost savings report to ensure regulation is met; update and maintain all volunteer files required by regulators and the organization. Utilize the Hospice software for volunteer management, including visit management. Researches and implements new volunteer-led programs that enhance the quality of life for Hospice patients and families; trains volunteers and staff accordingly. Continually assesses volunteer program process and implements change to facilitate growth and improvement.
  • Active Interdisciplinary Team Member - Provides team members with pertinent information regarding volunteers. Participates in problem solving discussions. Coordinates the development and regular updating of care plans with volunteers, goals, interventions and outcomes. Ensures documentation of volunteer interventions on the plan of care.
  • Maintains Communication with Volunteers - Keeps volunteers informed. Provides support to volunteers on a regular basis and when difficulties arise. Keeps track of volunteer schedules and availability. Monitors volunteer burnout and reassigns and/or provides direction.
  • Assists in Management of Associate Chaplain Program - Work closely with the Hospice chaplain to develop and manage the volunteer associate chaplain team. Provide orientation and training alongside the Hospice chaplain. Ongoing focus to the growth of the associate chaplain program.
  • Manage Ancillary Services - Manage the ancillary services provided by Hospice to ensure success and ongoing development of new services that enhance the quality of our patients and families that we serve.
  • Other Duties as Assigned - Participate and assist in the volunteer events that are put on by the Hospice program. Be a member of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee. Assist with special projects and tasks as requested by the Administrator and Director of Hospice. Education and Experience Required:
  • Degree in Social Work, Marketing or Public Relations or previous Volunteer Coordinator experience.
  • Must complete and pass a state required background study.
  • Experience in the healthcare field preferred.
  • Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.
  • Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, clients and visitors.
