Abilities First, Inc., a CQL accredited organization, has been making a difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities for over fifty years. Starting out as The Little Red School House in 1962, Abilities First, Inc. has evolved into the Hudson Valley’s premiere provider of support services for individuals with developmental disabilities. We offer a wide variety of services including school and preschool programs, day habilitation, residential habilitation, community habilitation, service coordination and employment services.

From our early days as the “Little Red Schoolhouse”, Abilities First, Inc. has always been deeply committed to providing educational programming for all Pre-School-age children at every level of disability. In addition we provide Pre-School related services. We also offer a unique, warm, accepting educational experience for students ages 3-5 with moderate to severe disabilities at our main site in Wappingers Falls and UPK classrooms in the Hyde Park School District. While we offer intimate instructional settings for those with special needs, we also strive to develop creative solutions to integrate our students with their more typical peers.

Full time, Special Education Teacher position available in our Preschool program located in Cornwall, NY. The Teacher is responsible for the assessment of individual student’s needs, lesson plans, supervision of classroom staff, curriculum planning and development.

Requirements:
  • NYS Teacher Certification in Special Education B-2 or permanent Special Education certification required.
  • Experience working with students with developmental disabilities and behavioral support plans preferred.
