• Ridgeland, MississippiJob Summary: SR1 is looking for a Chief Health Social Entrepreneur that has the desire to lead SR1's efforts to become a global leader in health and social solutions by tackling health-related social issues.
The Chief Health Social Entrepreneur will direct SR1’s C.O.O.L. Health Projects that deliver nutrition, health, substance abuse prevention, and healthy relationship education to K-12 students in Central Mississippi. SR1’s goals are (1) to provide evidence-based information through a variety of innovative methods that will holistically assist adolescents and families in making healthier decisions and (2) to improve the community’s overall health outcomes.
Responsibilities: As a Chief Health Social Entrepreneur, you are passionate about tackling health and social issues facing the Central Mississippi community. You will be responsible for brainstorming new, creative, innovative, and culturally appropriate approaches while also delivering current projects to create a sustainable social impact. In addition to providing daily operational support, you will recruit, retain, direct, and oversee a team of health educators in the implementation of various facets of the C.O.O.L.™ Project, including but not limited to healthy relationship education sessions, substance abuse prevention, and other community health and social programs.
Duties include:
- Researching for information that will drive project implementation
- Possessing strong project management skills
- Setting and consistently meeting project deadlines
- Writing grant proposals
- Striving to understand the unique communities within Mississippi
- Ensuring goal and objective attainment
- Assuring quality of services
- Developing protocol and strategies
- Communicating with school staff and community members of various background and socioeconomic status
- Monitoring service delivery for fidelity
- Developing project recruitment and retainment strategies
- Working with independent evaluators to create and review data analytics
- Growing various community health projects
- Preparing written reports and other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer
- Having the spirit of a continuous life-long learner
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must:
- Have passion for working in a non-profit setting
- Have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Possess excellent communication (oral, written, and computer) skills
- Understand community engagement, retention, and recruitment strategies
- Have a strong research background and understanding of grant writing
- Have obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree (science, health, social work, or social entrepreneurship preferred) from an accredited college or university
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of community engagement and community mobilization strategies, positive youth health education strategies, and public health models, strategies, methods, and interventions.
Skills to manage and organize multiple projects, multi-task, manage time, meet critical deadlines, work independently without major supervision, manage a team, and work with diverse populations.
Ability to work with adolescents, school staff, parents/guardians, and community members; facilitate sessions, exercise confidentiality, collect data and work with an independent evaluator, interact effectively within a diverse team structure, and incorporate excellent organization skills into daily tasks.
