Hand in Hand is a faith based, non-profit organization that focuses on giving back to the community, and standing as an anchor of hope to families and children in time of crisis.
Safe Place serves as a 72-hour emergency placement for children who have been removed from their parent’s or guardian’s care due to suspected abuse or neglect, and are in immediate need of social services.
The Safe Place Program Coordinator supports the On-Site Program Manager in the provision of receiving care services, scheduling and management of staff & volunteers, and assisting in the overall development and growth of the program.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Safe Place program including staff scheduling, ongoing program development, coordinating client intakes and discharges, and developing & implementing on-going training opportunities for staff and volunteers.
- Assist in the supervision & oversight of Care Coordinators and Volunteers.
- Ensure completion of child's plan of care and social summary.
- Coordinate with staff & volunteer scheduling needs to cover any open shifts.
- Direct contact with all program specific Volunteers to ensure retention and support needs.
- Professionally respond to incidents and emergencies and notifying the appropriate personnel accordingly.
- Ensure positive work collaboration with DCYF, partner agencies, etc.
- Advocating for the best interests of the child within the context and boundaries of the program’s provisions.
- Support the development, implementation and tracking of required training's.
- Assist in the coordination & scheduling of monthly training's for Safe Place Staff and Volunteers.
- Assist in tracking key performance indicators and programmatic goals.
- Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Provides staffing back-up, lunch or sick call coverage as needed within Safe Place.
- Support the tracking of Safe Place Volunteers to include but not limited to, monthly/annual hours, number of active volunteers, inactive volunteers and on-boarding new Volunteers.
- Participate in the screening, on-boarding and training of new program Staff and Volunteers.
- Support the Safe Place Program Manager with management of staff and volunteer training files and overarching documentation.
Education Background
- Bachelor’s Degree in social services or closely related field plus 2 years of paid direct childcare experience, OR 5 years of direct childcare experience
- 2+ years of supervisory experience
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Strong sense of discretion and professionalism
- Organized and detailed-oriented
Licensure, Registration, Certification
- Must maintain a Washington state current driver’s license and have a good driving record.
Work Experience
Minimum 2-3 years direct child care experience
Special Training/Skills
- Bilingual (Not required but preferred)
- Excel and Word.
Physical Abilities
Must be able to move freely about organization
Must be able to drive and support services & departments as requested.
Must be able to use a telephone for prolonged periods and use a personal computer.
Physical Demand Level: Sedentary
In an 8-hour workday, must be able to-
- Lift / Carry 10 pounds occasionally
