Overview

Masters Degree in Social Work or in Mental Health Counseling. Licensure (or work toward completion of licensure) preferred. Working knowledge of interviewing techniques and the ability to assess patient/client needs and establish a plan of action. Knowledge of community referral resources, their accessibility, function and effectiveness. Ability to assume responsibility for personal and professional growth. Knowledge of Code of Ethics for Social Workers or Mental Health Counselors. Ability to work cooperatively with medical personnel. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Knowledge of self-values, feelings and their possible effects on others. Belief in maintaining respect for individuality, rights, and dignity. Ability to supervise graduate social work or mental health counseling students engaged in field practicum. Able to meet the physical demands as described in the ADA forms on file in the Human Resources Department.

Responsibilities

To provide assessment, short-term counseling, and referral services to contracted EAP companies. Performs variety of services, such as: Provide confidential and timely assessment of personal problems to employees, spouses and dependents of contracted EAP companies, including Allen Hospital associates. Provide professional short-term counseling, based on solution-focused problem solving, in accordance with the EAP six session model. Provide referral and follow-up for appropriate diagnosis, treatment, and assistance. Provdie crisis assistance through 24/7 crisis HELP line.
