Responsibilities

The Instructional Designer (eLearning Specialist) is responsible for planning, designing, developing, deploying and evaluating technology enabled training utilizing various technologies and applications to create excellent responsive eLearning to address the needs of the business and related stakeholders. Designs and develops text and graphics for online use; manages design work and overall quality of technology enabled training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Use a wide variety of educational media and technology to design, develop and deliver state-of-the-art eLearning training tools and programs for designated audiences.
  • Establishes best practices surrounding content development, materials, media and testing, including creating design templates and identifying opportunities to streamline the production process.
  • Works with SME’s to build technical and soft skill training. Designs, develops, deploys, and manages e-learning content and multimedia based solutions, including all course materials, exercises, and evaluations.
  • Creates high quality materials that are instructionally sound, complete, accurate, and convey learning concepts creatively and effectively. Selects appropriate learning activities and methods to achieve objectives, and builds those activities into a meaningful sequence.
  • Identifies learning-related issues, such as content sequencing, flow of information and relevancy of media, and quickly develops and implements effective solutions.
  • Reviews deliverables for completeness, compliance with standards, consistency with design documents, and confirmation that learning objectives were met.
  • Creates and executes functionality testing plans for courses deployed via the LMS, assists with LMS administration as needed.
  • Reviews and revises content based on feedback from team members, SMEs, management and other stakeholders, resolving conflict and making sound changes, to achieve program goals.
  • Generate and manipulate graphic images, animations, sound, text, video, documentation, storyboards, narrative scripts, graphics, tests, and scenarios into consolidated and seamless multimedia programs.
  • Provide creative ideas to the team and collaboratively work to enhance team member course content.
  • Edit own projects and conduct review of co-workers’ projects, as well as quality checks for technical issues.
  • Research and report on new online learning and development tools and technologies.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Strong knowledge and application of adult learning theory and instructional design principles with a focus on eLearning/virtual design and the latest training technologies and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of e-learning authoring tools including Storyline, Studio, Captivate, Lectora.
  • Familiar with administration of one or more LMS platforms.
  • Understanding of eLearning technical standards (SCORM, AICC) for development and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledgeable of content creation, illustration, and/or animation using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Experience with video and audio recording/editing software like Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects, Camtasia or other software.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and online meeting technologies.
  • Ability to create and edit HTML, CSS, XML.
  • Strong understanding of graphic design and typography principles and the ability to carry these over to all aspects of eLearning course development.
  • Proficient using a provided script to create page mockups of the course, create complete storyboards, and develop complete course.
  • Proven experience in consulting and working with multiple stakeholders in a complex project management environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, multitask and meet deliverable timeframes.

  • Exceptional client service skills.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES:
  • AA or BA in instructional design, curriculum development, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience in the mortgage or real estate industry.
  • 2+ years’ experience working with eLearning technologies and products, including familiarity with Articulate, Camtasia, GoAnimate, or similar tools.
