Overview

Manage the overall operations of a ductile iron foundry while being responsible for labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as directed by Tyler Union. Responsibilities may include interviewing, selection and hiring; training new and existing employees; planning assigning and directing work; conducting employee performance appraisals; addressing employee performance and corrective action plans.

Responsibilities

Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.

Establish goals and objectives; monitor and evaluate operating performance; provide direction, judgment, leadership and technical expertise to management team to maximize efficiency.

Direct foundry team to achieve or exceed department goals and objectives.

Accountable for all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to Safety, Quality and Productivity within the foundry operations.

Build skills depth and backup within hourly employee ranks.

Assist in developing the annual budget for the foundry.

Assist in establishing annual cost reduction goals for the foundry and execution of those goals to meet the company business plan.

Recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel and discipline employees.

Analyze process work-flow, employee and space requirements and equipment layout; implement changes.

Communicate customer issues with foundry team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, but not required.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a no-bake and green sand foundry required.
Five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive supervisory and management experience in a foundry environment required.
Experience with Cupola melting, pressure-pour furnaces, floor molding, gating, and pattern rigging a plus.
Equivalent combination of education and experience required.
