Mental Health Therapist

Job Summary

Part or full time position in a multi-disciplinary wellness facility regarding development, implementation, and coordination of mental health services for individuals, couples, and/or families. Overall responsibilities include supporting clients with emotional, behavioral, and mental disorders through psychotherapy.

Work Activities

• Provide individual, couple, family and/or group therapy;

• Encourage clients to express their feelings and help them develop insight into themselves and their relationships;

• Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems;

• Prepare and maintain all confidential records and reports;

• Ensure treatment plans are devised, updated and conducted;

• Work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans. The team includes mental health therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nurses, dietitians, wellness coaches, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, professional organizers, and educators;

• Monitor use of medications;

• Advise families on condition and treatment;

• Participate in workshops, therapy intensives, and retreats sponsored by the center;

• Refer clients to community resources or specialists as necessary;

• Evaluate effectiveness of counseling programs and client’s progress;

• Learn new developments in your field of study through professional literature, attending courses, and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.

• Provide consultation to other professions engaging psychological approach.

• Organize community education workshops in the facility,

• Provide industry relevant tips for the facility newsletter and community blog.

Job Context

Majority of the responsibilities will take place at The Wellness Connection facility in Stone Ridge, VA with professional staffing averaging 20 people. Spacious, climate-controlled, modern, luxurious offices will be provided. The facility will house varied therapies concurrently in separate, sound-proof, private offices, while conducting group yoga and support groups in a separate section. Facility work hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 8pm, and Saturday 8am-5pm; however, individual schedules may vary. Individual responsibilities are mostly limited to providing clients outstanding, satisfactory services. The atmosphere is positive, encouraging, and team-work oriented.

Work Performance

All therapists are evaluated periodically based on their performance, job competencies, leadership skills, career development, and client satisfaction.

Compensation Information

The Wellness Connection offers a revenue share model for it’s Independent Contractors. Contractors will be paid bi-monthly.

Job Competencies

Upon hire the therapist must:

• Obtain Masters degree from an accredited university in the field of Human Resources, Counseling Psychology, or related field;
• Either completed or in the process of completing their Residency;
• Be licensed as an LMFT, LPC, LCSW in VA or have certification in specialized field;
• Hypnotherapy experience is an advantage.
• Holistic Psychotherapy experience is an advantage
• Have at least 2 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and/or families in a professional clinical capacity;
• Be able to establish empathy and a person-centered approach to clients;
• Have the ability to recognize own limitations and respond to difficult situations;
• Have the ability to apply academic and research knowledge to problems;
• Critically and analytically work in a self-motivated and independent way;
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members as well as clients;
• Have a strong dedication of wellness lifestyle.

Licensure is preferred; but we will also consider CV’s for residents working towards licensure.
