Qualifications

Training Specialist I
- Bachelor’s degree in education, training, instructional design, or adult education or related field or equivalent training and experience.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and facilitation methods
- Ability to conduct classroom or small group instruction effectively for adult audiences
- Experience using word processing, email, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Effective oral and writing skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Training Specialist II
- Bachelor’s degree in education, training, instructional design, or adult education or related field or equivalent training and experience. At least 2 years of professional-level experience.
- Knowledge of instructional design methodology (Systematic Approach to Training or similar), including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation processes
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and facilitation methods
- Knowledge of learning management systems
- Knowledge of federal regulations, DOE Orders, and other guidance documents for training and instruction, specifically those impacting nuclear activities and facilities
- Experience conducting classroom or small group instruction effectively for adult audiences
- Experience using word processing, email, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Effective oral and writing skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
For both levels:
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Qualified applicants will be working between the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada and at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.
Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

Responsibilities
Serve as a Training Specialist I or II who will provide instructor-led training in a wide variety of topics.
Qualified applicants will be working between the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada and at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
Key Responsibilities
Training Specialist I:
- Provides classroom instruction, small group instruction, and hands-on, individualized instruction as required, for subject areas as assigned, using instructional strategies and materials developed by others.
- Administers examinations and provides remediation as necessary based on results, as supervised by a mentor/supervisor.
- Assists with training evaluations for new and existing training programs and assists with follow-up analysis of training results.
- Assists in identifying, evaluating, and recommending new course materials, software development tools, and graphics tools and resources as necessary to stay current with industry trends.
- Stay current on health and safety industry and company standards.
- Assists in ensuring currency of training materials to include revising course analysis documents, lesson plans, tests, and training effectiveness tools, as supervised by a mentor/supervisor.
- Coordinates with appropriate outside training and educational organizations and agencies to evaluate and select appropriate external training resources when needed.
- Provides schedule inputs for master training calendars.
- Ensures training records generated for personnel are maintained per company training and records processes.
Training Specialist II:
In addition to the responsibilities of the Training Specialist I position, responsibilities for the Training Specialist II include:
- Assists with the development on new training projects as assigned, included web-based training, as supervised by a mentor/supervisor.
- Assists in identifying, evaluation, and recommending new course materials, software development tools, and graphic tools and resources as necessary to stay current with industry trends.

Ensures currency of training materials to include revising course analysis documents, lesson plans, tests, and training effectiveness tools.
