The Biology Instructor will teach General Biology, Microbiology, Ecology and other science courses, up to and including Anatomy & Physiology and General Life Sciences, based on areas of expertise. Duties include the organization and management of the laboratory, curriculum development, and willingness to integrate technology into classroom lessons. There is an expectation for on-going scholarly activity and professional development, engagement with students inside and outside the classroom, collegial activity with peers and involvement with the college governance processes. Engagement in undergraduate research is expected.

Sicience, Math & Engineering Chair

Education/Qualifications

Master’s degree in an area related to biology with a minimum of 18 graduate hours within the field.
Ph.D. preferred.

Three years’ teaching experience; community college experience preferred

Strong understanding of biology and related fields.

Knowledge of and experience in biological research

  • Ability and temperament to work with the broad spectrum of students found in a community college environment.
  • Courses to be taught will most likely include the following: Life Sciences, General Biology, Microbiology, Nutrition, and Human Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Be dedicated to maintaining scholarly professional development
  • Have a passion for modest biological research that can enliven the college culture and be used as a teaching tool
  • Willingness to embrace innovative teaching techniques, including; active learning strategies, Inquiry-based learning, and the ideals from the Vision and Change mandate in Undergraduate Biology Education.

About Northern Wyoming Community College District

Gillette College is located in Gillette, WY, the county seat of Campbell County. Located midway between the Big Horn Mountains to the West and the Black Hills of South Dakota to the east. Experience

Three years’ teaching experience; community college experience preferred
