GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Instructional Designer will support our employees through strong curriculum design. The team member will design and develop computer based training, web-based training, and other learning solutions. The position requires understanding adult learning principles, gathering and analyzing business/functional requirements, facilitating cross-functional teams, and managing multiple projects and plans. The Instructional Designer will develop appropriate training objectives and test methods and design instructionally valid training materials. The primary job function is to create eLearning and instructor-led training and oversee the corporate Learning Management System (LMS).

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and develop eLearning and instructor-led training programs based upon adult learning principles.

  • Create online course content, troubleshoot problems, and record metrics about usage.

  • Produce dynamic multimedia content for eLearning using software to construct courses and programs.

  • Determine instructional methods for instructor-led training such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.

  • Work with management to identify needed sales/regulatory/operational information and pilot new materials.

  • Develop job aids such as online training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, eLearning tutorials and reference works.

  • Contribute to overall operations team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Identify and assess future and current training needs through feedback, analysis of jobs, career paths, and consultation with managers.

  • Deploy a wide variety of training methods.

  • Maintain a keen understanding of curriculum development trends, developments and best practices.

  • Research third-party learning tools and solutions, and provide recommendations for improving existing offerings and resources.

  • Contribute to a blended learning approach with a focus on adult learning theory and continuous learning.

  • Develop appropriate assessments for web-based training modules and learning paths.

  • Review and test e-learning modules for quality assurance using knowledge of LMS standards.

  • Conduct needs analysis to determine when e-learning is an appropriate solution.

  • Collect, compile and report results of evaluation, attendance and training data.

  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four year college degree, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, and 12 to 18 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
