• West Lafayette, IndianaThe Assistant Director has overall responsibility for the supervision of staff involved in awarding institutional within the context of Division of Financial Aid policy. Coordinate/develop the implementation of the institutional awarding and funds management processes. Work extensively with the Associate Director and data area staff to coordinate all systems analysis and programming activities related to auto packaging of federal, state and institutional financial aid. Serves as a member of the management team within the Division of Financial Aid or daily operations. Oversees the development of counseling information and training materials for all programs within area of responsibility.
Administer the daily operations of a specified program (federal, state, institutional, or private) within the Division of Financial Aid. Recommends policy for the program area, which is approved by the Planning Group (Executive Director and Associate Directors). Write procedures for the daily operation of the program for submission/approval by central Operations (Assistant Directors and Associate Directors). Tests the program changes in the Financial Aid Banner system prior to changes going in to production. Implement policy/procedure into the daily operation of the program area. Develop the training plan and conduct annual staff training for the program. Revise and maintain program policy/procedure/ and processing manuals. Resource for questions and guidance to others for the program area. Work with Division of Financial Aid and Competency Center programming staff to insure systematic processing occurs as expected and submit data requests to insure that established quality controls and reports are provided on a timely basis. Supervise and assist in the workload management of either professional staff or student employees. Plan workload of and supervise full-time support staff or student employees. Recommend hiring and wages of full-time support staff or student employees.
Advise students, parent, and other concerning financial aid programs (federal, state, institutional, and privately funded). Serve as "counselor on duty" and provide private consultation with students and families as needed. Determine eligibility for financial assistance through Federal, State, Institutional, and Privately Funded Sources. Process and award financial assistance using federal/state regulations and institutional policy/procedure.
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Six or more years of experience working in financial aid
PREFERRED:
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with automated systems
- Knowledge of federal financial aid policies and regulations
