Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA summer camp and leadership programs. Oversees Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) operations, budget, and facilitates groups as needed. Is responsible for the budget, operations and implementation of Newport County YMCA Summer Camp Clarke in Middletown, RI and Common Fence Point Summer Camp in Portsmouth, RI.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.

2. One to two years related experience preferred.

3. Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 21 (define).

4. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

5. Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications.

6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Essential Functions

1. Develops, implements, submits and monitors budget related to summer camp & OAC,

2. Manage staff and volunteers-recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise and evaluate.

3. Assists in marketing and public relations management. Distribution of all camp & OAC promotional materials.

4. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

5. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

6. Under the direction of the COO will provide year-round leadership, administration and oversight of the camp& OAC day to day operation at Camp Clarke and Camp CFP

7. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the satisfaction of all programs. Monitors camper retention and OAC group retention.

8. Leads supervision and direction of the camp management and OAC staff.

9. Central to the success of this position is the ability to develop mutually respectful relationships with campers, parents, groups and staff.

10. Accomplishes certification for the OAC, and keeps all staff up to date on certifications.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary

$38,000.00 - $40,000.00
