About the role:

The Technical Writer will work as a team member on product development or other technology projects to bring clarity and consistency to documents through accurate and concise writing and effective use of document format. In summary, this technical writer will write, revise, organize, plan, summarize, edit, and proofread technical engineering documents and maintain project records.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Co-author or contribute to the creation and revision of engineering deliverables.
  • Plan documents and create the draft of documents for the engineer or team.
  • Interface cross-functionally within the product development team to acquire source material for documents and to develop understanding of the products and processes.
  • Apply corporate and regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Organize and place raw data into usable tables.
  • Clearly and correctly state and summarize technical information and conclusions in documents.
  • Make suggestions or corrections to make a document clearer and more concise.
  • Initiate document Change Notices. Act as an SME for the document management system.
  • Aid the team in preparing for and documenting major milestone reviews.
  • Manage the project records during development. Own the Design History File for the project.
  • Manage, organize, and communicate project information and project activities.
  • Participate in department projects.

What we’re looking for:

Minimal qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, degree in technical writing or related technical field such as engineering, or biology preferred.
  • 6+ months technical writing experience
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have the ability to work both in collaboration with others on a project team and independently on tasks.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability and desire to keep track of document and project details.
  • Must be able to work quickly and efficiently on documents and tasks while still maintaining high quality in work.
  • Must demonstrate proactive work habits and assertiveness in creating and owning documents.
  • Must have an aptitude to understand engineering and other technical information.
  • Must have project management and time management skills.
  • Problem solving skills and an ability to respond and adapt to change.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Visio desired.
  • Medical device or other regulated industry preferred.
