The Burlington School District is seeking an EL teacher (.5 FTE / .5 LTC). The ideal candidate will have a Vermont state license in teaching English Learners (also known as ELL, ESL, TESOL) and will have experience in establishing a safe, welcoming, positive learning environment for English Learners. Experience working with students and families from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds is essential. Familiarity with both literacy and mathematics as well as the Common Core and WIDA standards are also important assets.

Required : Vermont Teaching License in English as a Second Language, or eligible for licensure Experience teaching school-aged English Learner students, K-12 (including student teaching) Knowledge of and experience with currently accepted/research-based practices in EL instruction Evidence of integrating technology into the learning environment Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume and cover letter

Preferred : Experience working with students from refugee and SLIFE backgrounds at the elementary or secondary level Knowledge of or experience with the WIDA English language proficiency standards & assessment program, including experience administering a standardized English language proficiency assessment Knowledge about/experience working with high poverty students Knowledge of best practices regarding student management Knowledge or experience with literacy instruction Knowledge of assessments and use of data to inform instruction Evidence of strong connection with students and families Dual licensure in science, math or elementary education
