Program Overview: Established in 1990, Sequel Youth and Family Services of Courtland is a licensed and academically accredited 46-bed residential treatment facility. The program specializes in treating adolescent males with maladaptive sexual concerns and/or behavioral disorders. The campus is located in Courtland, AL near Athens, Decatur, and Muscle Shoals.

Snapshot Duties:

The Science Teacher provides direct educational services to student population using professionally and educationally acceptable methods and techniques.

Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher, the Science Teacher reviews the student’s educational needs, fulfills criteria set forth in each residents IEP, arranges and implements designed lesson plans, teach grades 6-12, and documents each residents educational progress according to educational accreditation standards.

Facilitate learning in controlled environment adolescents, ages 12 – 18.

The successful candidate will be one that enjoys small class sizes, individual attention for students, reliable, energetic, creative, and flexible.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and a valid, current Alabama teaching certification, Class B secondary in Science. Required experience and skills: one year teaching experience with adolescents ages 12 – 18, knowledge of developmental levels of children and adolescents, experience with or knowledge of the education of exceptional children.
