Vermont Adult Learning Job Title: Teacher ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNINGEmployment Classification: Adjunct, 5-10 hours per week, intermittent time periods throughout the yearReports To: ELL Coordinator and VAL Program DirectorPrimary Work Site: Burlington, VT Multiple locationsPurpose of the position(s): To plan, co-teach, and support courses in advanced manufacturing for English language learners, working with a Certified Production Technician (CPT) instructor from the Community College of Vermont. This position requires a commitment to understanding individual student needs and supporting students as they work toward personal, work, and educational goals. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Co-teaches one or more classes for adult English language learners.Collaborates with CPT instructor to develop instructional materials, supports, and strategies to help English language learners access the CPT curriculum.Designs and facilitates dynamic, differentiated English language learning lessons that integrate speaking, listening, reading, and writing in support of the CPT curriculum.Works with other instructors, team members, and community partners, as needed.Evaluates materials regularly and makes necessary changes to improve the quality of instruction and meet program goals.Periodically assists in assessment of students.Provides accurate and timely data on student learning and program activities as requested by supervisor.Assists VAL Team with program promotions and recruitment efforts.Maintains professional standards of confidentiality.Participates in additional duties as assigned. Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills: Master's degree preferred, but will consider an appropriate endorsement, diploma or certification in ELL/ ESOL/ TESL.Requires 3 5 years of relevant teaching experience with adults.Experience required in curriculum and materials development.Knowledge of manufacturing, construction, and/or welding terminology preferred.Addresses individualized educational needs in group instructional settings.Collaborates effectively with other service providers in helping adult students manage their obstacles to learning.

Possesses strong skills in information technology.Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing. Working Conditions and Environment: Personal, reliable transportation with valid drivers license required. Personal transportation is required to attend meetings, training sessions and off site teaching assignments. May require working some evenings or weekends to provide needed center services.Background Check: A confidential, national criminal records check will be performed on all applicants offered employment.
