Position Description:

Minnesota Excellence in Learning Academy seeks a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Teacher who will inspire young minds and share a commitment to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential. This person will...

  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on pre-school standards.

  • Work with KG Staff to ensure appropriate vertical alignment of the standards to create a smooth transition into Kindergarten.

  • Provide a caring and supportive classroom environment for students which supports creativity, curiosity, and exploration of the world around them.

  • Creates a behavior plan for the classroom as well as individual students, if appropriate, based on the Zones of Regulation and the use of ENVoY strategies.

  • Supervise a para-professional, ensuring they follow the teachers instructional practices and behavior management protocols.

  • Participate in all staff development opportunities as well as professional expectations which are based on MELA values and mission.

  • Participate in external professional development opportunities which will help create a strong pre-K program, coordinating with MELA leadership.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Valid Minnesota Teacher License B - Grade 3 - Early Childhood Education

  • Prefer minimum 1 year of experience teaching in urban setting
