The Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management at Iowa State University invites applications for a Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) position.

Position responsibilities include undergraduate teaching, in a class to be determined based upon need. Teaching Professors will teach a variety of event management classes.

Required Education and Experience

A Master’s degree earned by the start date;

At least one degree earned must be in Event Management or a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience

Management experience in events management;

Teaching experience in events management, or related field, at the college level.

The Events Management Program at Iowa State University (ISU) is recognized as the leading events management program in the U.S. Midwest region. Faculty and students are well represented at major international conferences. There are currently close to 400 undergraduate majors, served by two advisors, three tenure-track faculty, and two lecturers. In addition, the hospitality management team works with the faculty and students of the Events Management Program. There is a strong working relationship with university-based entities, such as ISU Dining, the Alumni Association, ISU Athletics, the Iowa State Center, and the Memorial Union.

The appointments may be Full Time or Part Time depending on need.

The University is in the process of implementing a policy change to allow academic departments to offer rank within a “Teaching Professor” track. The impending change is expected to be completed by Fall 2019. Any faculty member hired through this posting may be assigned the new title/rank upon the employment start date (and after the initial offer), commensurate with qualifications required for the rank as of August 2019.
