    Responsibilities

    The purpose of this position is to assist with fitness, sports and aquatic facility operations. Plans, organizes and conducts facility programming for the fitness program. Ensures maintenance, cleanliness and equipment for usage are maintained and ready for use. Ensures that the facility runs in an efficient and effective manner which allows the fitness director and fitness specialists to focus their efforts on training and programming. The incumbent coordinates service staff i.e. maintenance, cleaning, and gear issue ensuring facilities operate effectively. Ensures maintenance of the equipment and ensures purchases or supplies, maintenance trouble calls, daily activity reports (DARs), time cards, patron counts and other administrative operations related to running the facilities are performed so that the supervisory staff can focus their efforts on training, conditioning and programming. May instruct patrons in the proper use of equipment and self-monitored progress by preparing written instructions and procedures for use of equipment and safety of all users. Incumbent plans, evaluates and ensures that the fitness facility is maintained in accordance with fitness standards and meets the needs of participants. Manages the fitness facility and may be responsible for opening and closing the facility, checking user ID cards, monitoring towel usage, and returning weights and other fitness material to the proper location. Routinely inspects and cleans equipment, performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and coordinates for required major repairs on equipment located in the center. Periodically inspects and performs preventative maintenance on equipment. May instruct fitness center users on proper and safe use of equipment and use of fitness resources. Provides administrative support to operate the facility as necessary. This may include but not limited to: registration of user privilege, waiver of liability forms, training schedules, development and use of computer software programs and other required records. Conducts inventories and maintains property accountability of equipment. Assists in budget preparation and facility needs assessment by providing supporting data for inclusion in the overall annual budget requirements for the center. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

    Experience which enables the incumbent to independently carry out maintenance of the fitness facility.

    You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
