To provide overall coordination of District Mental Health and Social Emotional Learning Plans at the district level in conjunction with the Director of Exceptional Student Education, Director of Student Services, and School Safety Specialist.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Education Leadership, Social Work, Counseling, or closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years or more of relevant experience in the school setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of District Mental Health Plan, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and the area of mental health as related to Senate Bill 7026. Experience in developing and delivering professional learning in the field of mental health. Experience in developing/coordinating district wide initiatives/professional development. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and appropriate manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from School Board, groups of administrators and the public. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to use a variety of resources and programs to perform essential duties. These may include computers, scanners, projection devices and the like. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Board policies and to foster coordination and cooperation among staff.

SUPERVISES:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and maintain positive collaborative relations with schools and community referral sources and utilizes agency programs/services in effort to provide a continuum of care.
2. Support and assist in the implementation of Social Emotional Learning efforts and initiatives in the District.
3. Coordinate the implementation of Youth Mental Health First Aid Training for District
4. Meet with leadership on a regular basis and attends required meetings and trainings.
5. Provide leadership and support for educationally based mental health service providers and educational teams supporting students receiving Tier 3 intensive intervention.
6. Assess, design and deliver mental health training and professional learning to educators, mental health service providers and parents.
7. Serve as the District point of contact for local mental health agencies, facilitating communication with schools for returning students and assists with transition planning.
8. Identify and disseminates relevant community resource information and research.
9. Serve on committees and as a support team member for schools as assigned.
10. Identify emerging mental health/social emotional trends throughout the district and advise leadership of potential areas of need.
11. Model professional and ethical conduct when dealing with students, peers, parents and the community.
12. Perform and fulfill all professional responsibilities.
13. Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
14. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.


EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
