Part-Time Licensed Addictions Counselor - 20 hours per week
The Guidance Center (TGC) is a community based, non-profit agency that serves as the local Community Mental Health Center for Atchison, Jefferson and Leavenworth Counties in Kansas. We are proud of our commitment to promoting recovery for children and adults with serious mental illness and substance abuse issues, and the many partnerships that we have developed in serving children, adolescents, adults and their families. Through advocacy and education, the agency also has made incredible strides in erasing the stigma, shame, and ignorance that prevent more than half of all individuals touched by such problems from seeking treatment.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in addiction-related field, psychology, social work, other related
area and licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as a LAC or LCAC by
the first day of employment.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy or
Professional Counseling, and licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as
a LAC, LCAC, LMSW, LMLP, LMFT, LPC, LSCSW, LCP, LCPC OR LCMFT.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: two semester’s master-level practicum experience in a clinical setting providing assessment and
therapy services. Experience evaluating and treating substance abuse disorders, and certification by Kansas
Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as LAC or LCAC by the first day of employment.
Preferred: post master’s clinical experience, experience with the Kansas system of community based mental
health care and associated evidence-based practices.
**Must pass NCIC background checks and pre-employment drug screening.***

- Provide intake assessments and initial treatment planning for substance abuse clients
- Provide substance abuse treatment (individual, family and group) and on-going treatment planning for substance abuse clients
- Provide alcohol/drug assessments and DUI assessments.
- Provide treatment to alcohol/drug clients referred through specific programs which meets those programs’ requirements for content and duration
- Provide minimum of four appointment hours per week after 5 pm; some program needs may require considerably more hours after 5, with accompanying adjustments in start time.
- Provide documentation of services provided which complies with TGC’s standards and the requirements of all funding sources.
