West Fargo Public Schools is accepting applications for a full-time graphics and communications teacher to provide students with skills and practical hands-on experiences in digital photography, graphic publications, and fundamentals of broadcast journalism.
POSITION: Graphics & Communications Teacher - West Fargo High School
TERM: 188 day contract beginning with the 2019-2020 school year
SUMMARY: Provide instruction and practical hands-on experiences to students in digital photography, graphic publications, and fundamentals of broadcast journalism to promote marketable job skills and training in a related career field including includes classroom and lab instruction related to typography, information design, branding-identity systems, illustration, social media tools, interviewing and writing, video editing, and broadcasting. Projects may include logos, brochures, posters, magazine layouts, packaging, digital video creation, photography, animation, and/or emerging skills related to the industry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree in Graphic Design or Graphic Communications
- North Dakota Teaching License in Career and Technical Education*
- Experience in project management in both digital and print for publications
- Ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the school community
- Strong technological skills
- Ability to successfully manage deadlines
- Creativity and ability to use it within the confines of a public school district to positively impact young minds
- A working knowledge or interest in media and broadcasting preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred
- Information related to CTE Teacher Certification Licensing and Occupational Work Verification can be found on the DCTE website at: http://www.nd.gov/cte/teacher-cert/#requirements As a Department of Career and Technical Education Trade and Industry certified position in Graphic Communications, candidates must have 8,000 hours (approximately 4 years) of occupational experience in an area related to graphics communication, publications, journalism, media production, photography or other approved areas in the industry.
SALARY: 2019-2020 Teachers' Salary Schedule
The WFPS District funds the entire 11.75% employee contribution to TFFR, as well as the 12.75% employer contribution.
