Assistant Teacher Job Opening

Children's Village Child Care Center is looking for an Assistant Teacher to join our dedicated team of early childhood educators. Children’s Village is a part of Vision House, which is a non-profit Christian transitional housing program for homeless men, women, and their children.

Our mission is to provide every child with a loving, nurturing, Christ-centered environment where they can build positive relationships with others and fosters a love of learning. Our childcare center serves both our residents and the surrounding community. This position is located in Renton, WA.

Description:

The Assistant Teacher works cooperatively with Lead Teacher in implementing a planned curriculum, providing a nurturing environment and sound classroom management according to Children’s Village policy for the children enrolled in the program.

RATE: $13.00-$15.00 per hour depending on experience

HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday

As an Assistant Teacher you will:

• Develop positive relationships with the children, parents and other staff
• Communicate any problems or concerns regarding the program or children to the Lead Teacher
• Maintain room, supplies and equipment in coordination with Lead Teacher
• Participate in in-service training and remains knowledgeable about current research and practice in Early Childhood Education
• Implement curriculum for children under the supervision of the Lead Teacher
• Implement lesson plans for individuals and assigned groups
• Assess group and individual needs and develops goals and objectives in coordination with the Lead Teacher
• Participate in center staff and team-building activities
• Work with assigned volunteers and work-study students
• Perform other duties as assigned

Assistant Teacher candidates should have the following qualifications:

• A love for children and a desire to impact their lives for good.
• Christian faith and the ability to sign our Statement of Faith.
• 1 year child care experience preferred
• Proven ability in all areas of early childhood curriculum development and implementation including language development, music, art, pre-reading, pre-math, pre-science, etc.

Certificates & Licensing Requirements:

• Cleared Portable Background Check/Fingerprinting through DEL
• CPR, First Aid, HIV, Blood Borne Pathogens training within first 90 days
• Cleared TB test
• Food handler's permit within 90 days
• Whooping cough vaccine

Physical Demands/Work Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds properly.
• Ability to assume postures in low level positions that best allow physical and visual contact with children.
• Perform all activities with children occasionally.
• Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor the environment and children's well-being.
