Position: Clinical Assistant Professor of Counselor Education (Non-Tenure Track)

The Department of Educational Studies seeks a Clinical Assistant Professor in Educational Psychology to teach graduate courses in the Counselor Education program and to facilitate practicum/internship placements for graduate students within the program. The successful candidate will coordinate and supervise field experiences (practicum and internship) for the students in the counselor education master’s level tracks (CMHC, School, & Doctoral tracks).
This is a three-year appointment. Renewal of this appointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and funding availability.

Responsibilities include:
  • Teach graduate courses in the Counselor Education program;
  • Assist students with the process of identifying and securing potential practicum/internship sites.
  • Serve as liaison between site supervisors and UA counselor education faculty
  • Schedule and conduct one to two practicum/internship orientation meetings each academic year.
  • Facilitate the development of potential practicum/internship sites.
  • Partner with current practicum/internship sites and site supervisors, as appropriate, in the development of their counselor-in-training programs.
  • Facilitate communication between practicum/internship section instructors and BCE faculty to ensure effective, efficient, and consistent policies and procedures.
  • Support site supervisors in securing graduate credits and honorariums.
  • Update and maintain a database of site supervisor credentials and approved sites
  • Work with BCE faculty to develop and deliver professional development materials for site supervisors regarding supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate from a CACREP accredited program in Counselor Education;
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Successful teaching experience in higher education, utilizing distance and in-person delivery systems;
  • Record of integrating technology into teaching;
  • Experience working with placement sites for internship and practicum experiences;
  • Experience working within a higher education environment.
