Provide services and initiatives as specified in the Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System (FDLRS) statewide network grant for the purpose of serving children with special needs or disabilities by supporting educators, families, and communities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Florida Teaching Certification in the areas of Exceptional Student Education.
- Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Minimum of six (6) year’s teaching or work experience required.
- Prior experience working with a discretionary project preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The Florida Diagnostic Learning Resources Systems (FDLRS) Human Resource Development (HRD) Specialist will serve as a leader in providing training, resources, and consultative services to schools, agencies, departments, universities, colleges, and parents. The FDLRS HRD Specialist must possess the ability to effectively promote, train, and support the following FDLRS functions, as specified in the FDLRS grant: Human Resource Development, Technology, and Parent Information Services.

Director of Adult, Career, & Technical Education or Designee
SUPERVISES:
Varies depending on grants secured.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in professional development activities to support school improvement and improve Instructional competencies.
- Assist in training, coaching and mentoring of instructional staff.
- Research and evaluate current and emergent resources and materials to support Human Resource Development activities.
- Provide information, training, equipment, and resources to support the attainment of State Performance Plan indicators.
- Coordinate and conduct staff development training to support the mission of the district and the State of Florida.
- Collaborate with and disseminate resources and materials from the Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System network of Specialized Centers and University Programs
- Present and share district training initiatives at State and District Conferences
- Provide information to instructional staff regarding FDLRS PDA on line modules
- Plan, deliver, monitor and implement training in Standing Up for Me and other self-advocacy curriculum (K-12)
- Write, edit, and distribute two Transition Times newsletters annually.
- Attend and actively participate in the activities of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce Workforce and Education Committee.
- Attend and actively participate in the activities of the Manatee County Children’s Committee.
- Attend and actively participate in the Manasota Business Leadership Network
- Plan program, and conduct, and provide follow up for the Manatee County Transition Interagency Committee including bimonthly presentations and annual business recognitions.
- Provide training in the area of secondary transition and post secondary outcomes to support State performance Plan Indicator 14.
- Support and coordinate activities in the Project 10 CONNECT grant and provide the End-of-Year report for Manatee County.
- Provide training to employment specialists, on the job training teachers, ESE secondary teachers, ESE specialists, and ESE administrators, and parents on secondary and post-secondary transition issues and DOE transition initiatives.
- Collaborate with local assistive technology specialist (LATS) and attend mandatory FDLRS Technology trainings in order to coordinate technology trainings for the district.
- Attend and actively participate in the Suncoast Workforce Board Youth Council.
- Attend Project CONNECT region 4 meetings and report on Manatee Counties Transition activities and distribute transition resources.
- Maintain and keep current ESE Transition website and link to FDLRS Suncoast website.
- Maintain and update annually ESE on the Job Training Manual and transition brochures.
- Attend Transition Individual Educational Plan (TIEP) meetings when invited.
- Attend FDLRS quarterly meetings, update FDLRS staff, and enter activities in the FDLRS tracking system.
- Utilize the district professional development management system to enter inservice training and follow up data.
- Provide support and training for the Third Party Cooperative Arrangement (TPCA) upon request from the District.
- Promote and recruit community business partners for district on the job training programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
This position is 100% grant funded; when the grant funds end so will the position.
