The Clinical Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, and presenting educational materials and/or programs as needed for Cornerstone Hospice clinical staff and non-clinical staff, and office personnel.


The position will be based out of Tavares, FL with Travel to branch offices and out-of-town meetings.

**Requires travel to Orlando 6 days per month**


JOB DUTIES/KNOWLEDGE

  • interacts directly with the Director of Training and Professional Development.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates, and conducts educational programs, training sessions, and orientation modules/programs to meet the needs of the agency.
  • Plans and coordinates selected clinical skills labs and associated competency evaluations for clinical staff as requested.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements clinical education materials and programs for patients and families, referral sources, partnering facilities, and the community, utilizing multidisciplinary resources as requested.
  • Mentors clinical staff and acts as resource for Cornerstone Hospice in clinical symptom management as requested.
  • Assures education department programs and materials are in compliance with State and Federal law, internal agency policies, and meet standards of
    professional practice.
  • Participates in educational experiences with area colleges and universities as requested.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and coordination of re-entry personnel.
  • Oversees the maintenance of competency records for clinical staff. Reports results to Clinical Management and Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Responsible for appropriate and timely communication with other agency Departments.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities of the agency.
  • Responds to the needs of the agency and the department by performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN/MSN preferred.
  • Florida RN license required.
  • Three years’ hospice experience preferred; clinical education experience required.
  • CHPN preferred, if not certified, expectation is to be certified within 12 months of hire date.
  • Experience in program development and designing educational materials using a variety of methods and resources preferred; must be familiar with adult learning principles.
  • Strong computer skills with willingness to learn new systems required; experience with Word and Power Point preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with demonstrated ability to work independently and organize work load with accuracy.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of appropriate communication skills:
  • Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-one-one, small group, and large group situations.
  • Ability to problem-solve involving many variables in both standard and exceptional situations.
