Qualifications:

A successful candidate must have:

  • BA/BS Degree from an accredited four-year college or university OR 3+ years of work-related experience;
  • Strong working knowledge of HUD/Rural Development/LIHTC program regulations and requirements; HCCP/COS designations a plus but not required;
  • Excellent time management, organization, written and communication skills;
  • Self-starter, innovative and able to manage multiple assignments and work in a fast-paced environment with detail and accuracy; and
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other compliance/management software programs (e.g., Yardi, OneSite, Emphasys, etc..)

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for assisting the Compliance Director in overseeing, monitoring and ensuring an owner’s compliance with fair housing laws and governing affordable housing program regulations/requirements, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the compliance department to ensure:

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for:

  • Policy Enforcement & Implementation: Ensures assigned portfolio comply with the terms and conditions of governing regulations and requirements;
  • Inspection & Mitigation: Conduct internal assessments and site visits to identify, evaluate and mitigate compliance risk;
  • Record-keeping & Reporting: Prepare internal and external compliance reports, as well as develop agency records/databases in accordance with company policy and governing rules/requirements;
  • Training & Education: Create and provide interdepartmental training, technical assistance and compliance awareness education material/resources; AND
  • Compliance Liaison: Serve as an agency representative externally and interdepartmentally to achieve and ensure optimal compliance (e.g., facilitate/participate in inspections, responding to requests for information, provide technical assistance/support to inquiries, etc.,)
