Responsibilities: The following items are the responsibilities of all faculty members:

  • Develop and update course material including syllabi, course outlines, and evaluation instruments.
  • Evaluate textbooks and other instructional materials for each course taught.
  • Instruct classes per schedule.
  • Provide students with course syllabi and outline on the first days of classes during the first week of the term.
  • Submit copies of phone lists for all classes to your immediate supervisor at the conclusion of add/drop period. Retain one copy for your records.
  • Grade tests, projects, clinic grades, and other assignments in a timely manner and enter in to Canvas.
  • Evaluate students’ progress on a regular basis throughout the term with grades accurately reflecting students’ skills. Students not making acceptable progress should be referred to tutoring. Concerns regarding students’ progress should be addressed with the immediate supervisor, as appropriate.
  • Complete progress reports at one month and two months into the term per provided dates. All reports must be signed by the students. Reports are to be forwarded to the Director of Education/ Campus Director and/or program Director at the end of the term.
  • Submit final grades to the Registrar at the end of each term and/or make sure all grades are entered into canvas.
  • Actively engage in retention activities according to school policy.
  • Work with supervisor, when necessary, to resolve student concerns. Record class attendance daily in Canvas.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date gradebook in Canvas.
  • Use Canvas and student devices to supplement courses.
  • Verify textbooks to be used the following term.
  • Enforce school attendance policy. Ensure students are signing in and punching in and out each day.
  • Submit class daily attendance for to immediate supervisory daily.
  • Perform mid-semester intern evaluations each semester as assigned.
  • Serve as a mentor to new and current students.
  • Adhere to and support school policies and procedures as referenced in the Employee Handbook, Student Handbook, and School Catalog.
  • Report off to supervisor prior to any absences and have a plan for affected classes.
  • Check voice mails and emails twice daily with appropriate follow-up.
  • Provide annual documentation of continuing professional growth.
  • Obtain and maintain any certifications, licenses, or degrees required to teach assigned courses.
  • Attend scheduled faculty in-services, book fairs, and staff and faculty meetings.
  • Attend scheduled school events each semester (on or off site).
  • Report need for supplies and instructional materials using the appropriate requisition at least two weeks, preferably four, before items are needed.
  • Report any computer equipment repair issues with a properly completed repair ticket.
  • Perform daily class maintenance. This includes erasing the boards, turning off the heat and computers, making sure the chairs are pushed in, and proper disposal of any trash lying around. Report any concerns, as appropriate.
  • Report building maintenance items timely to your Supervisor. This includes burnt out light bulbs, broken chairs, damaged tables, and broken overhead projectors.
  • Perform end of the term procedures by preparing the assigned classroom(s) for the next term. This includes surveying classroom for necessary supplies, testing equipment, noting any maintenance issues (lights, carpeting, chairs, etc.) and following up, as appropriate.
  • Verify textbooks and quantities prior to the start of a new term.
  • Participate in Employer Advisory Committee meetings, if requested.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and as assigned by Supervisor.
