Lifeskills Program Shelbyville Central Schools 803 St. Joseph St. Shelbyville, IN 46176 Certified - Secondary - Special Education Job Number 4600171631 Start Date 08/01/2019 Open Date 03/11/2019 Closing Date 08/01/2019 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, prepares, and carries out Individual Educational Programs (IEP) and classroom instruction designed to meet students’ needs and conform to state and federal laws and standards. Responsible for the supervision and guidance of paraprofessional staff in regards to the planning and implementation of the students’ IEPs. Maintain attendance, evaluation, and progress records for classroom students. Maintain a communication system with parents/caregivers of classroom students regarding student performance and care Establishes a structured classroom and schedules to insure the safety of each student. Refers students appropriately to members of the support staff, which includes the speech therapist, P.T., O.T., psychologist, and/or counselors. May have to lift and/or push/pull students in wheelchairs. May have to monitor students’ general health. Will assist individual students with self-care and daily living activities and instruction. Facilitates and coordinates students’ participation in general education classes, where appropriate. Keeps parents, support staff, and administration appraised of student concerns in regard to student behavior, health, and learning. Prepares reports, individualized assessments, and observations to determine student progress. Schedules and prepares for IEP conferences in a timely manner. Participates in case conferences, staff meetings, and in-service meetings as directed by the administration. Meet “effective” or “highly effective” ratings as it relates to teacher evaluation tool. Will administer all assessments required by IDOE and comply with the Testing Security Policy.
