Description of role:
We are now accepting applications for Lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher! A minimum of a CDA is required for this position. Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, and Master's Degree are also welcome. Degree must be in Early Childhood Education, or similar.

Academic Adventures is looking for a Lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher that is patient, loving, energetic, dependable, professional and can communicate on each child's level and have a passion for childcare and making a difference in the lives of young children.
We understand our teachers and staff are the most valuable part of our program. Our pay scale is based on the experience and value each person brings to the center and is comparable to other licensed child care centers in the Omaha metro.
Tasks:
- Develop classroom curriculum with the assistance of the Director and other Lead Pre-K Teachers
- Help arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
- Maintain a fun and interactive classroom that is clean, organized and maintains a schedule
- Coordinating activities, supervising and engaging with children
- Engage children using artwork, incorporating music time, reading and other activities
- Implement age appropriate and individualized curriculum involving various activities to stimulate and encourage children’s cognitive, emotional and physical skills, abilities and development
- Excellent leadership, training and coaching abilities. The center is very focused on working as a team.
Skills and Requirements:
- Must adhere to the DHHS guidelines for training including CPR/First Aid, Safe with You and Early Learning Guidelines as well as annual in-service training hours.
- Must undergo a Nebraska Child and Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check.
- Must undergo a background check.

- Experience working in a licensed childcare facility - preferred
- Knowledgeable of Child Care Center Regulations to ensure regulations are followed - preferred
- Knowledge of KidReports as well as general computer knowledge and working with Mimio Boards - preferred
- Speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Be punctual and have good attendance to create a consistent environment for families and staff.
- Create and maintain a clean, attractive, positive, organized and nurturing environment for the children in their care.
- Maintain the health, safety, and security of the children in their care.
- Ensuring that a warm, high-quality learning environment is maintained.
- Facilitate written and verbal communication with parents/guardians daily to build strong relationships and to assure them their children are safe and learning in a developmentally appropriate way.
- Establish and maintain relationships with co-workers.
- Ensure all center and licensing requirements are maintained within the room/center at all times.
General Work Expectations:
- Keep all appropriate records such as daily sheets and time sheets.
- Teachers must be able to adapt and excel in a continuously changing, fast-paced environment, and make the children’s needs their primary focus.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, especially with parents, as well as patience, flexibility, and effective leadership skills.
- Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.
- Must be energetic and love working with children.
- Self-motivated and a solid work ethic to include prompt and reliable attendance.
- Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work.
- Commitment to Program excellence
- Must have strong organization and communication skills
- Must have the ability to multi-task, ability to solve problems and strong time management skills
- Must have good moral character
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Teachers must be able to fully engage in physical activity. They must be able to kneel, stoop, sit on the floor, stand for a long time, and demonstrate and engage in activities like jumping, dancing, walking, and running, multiple times a day.
- Teachers must be able to see and hear well enough to monitor classrooms and playgrounds to keep children safe at all times.
- Teachers must be able to maintain emotional stability, mental & physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job duties.
- Teachers must be able to work cohesively within a team to support its members and accomplish goals, duties and job responsibilities.
- Teachers must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Teachers must have a positive disposition, flexible personality and demonstrate leadership ability.
Work Schedule:
8-hour workdays, Monday through Friday
