Technical Writer

Full-Time Exempt

The Arcanum Group is looking for a Technical Writer to support a government client on a contingent basis. The Technical Writers will produce documents that distill complex technical concepts for management stakeholders, user audience and automated system maintainers. Documentation may be used to Organizational Change Management, employee training or provide well described process information to a large organization. Documents such as end-user manuals, may be designed for a general readership. Work may also include maintaining and updating existing documentation as systems and processes change.

Tasks may include:

• Experience writing, editing, publishing reports and technical documents.

• Strong experience with computer-based systems.

• Gathers, analyzes and composes technical information required for preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, reports, etc.

• Edits functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents.

• Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology.

• Translates technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel

• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of processes and the organizational documentation requirements

• Produce high-quality documentation that meets user expectations, organizational standards and is appropriate for its intended audience

• Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides

• Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications

• Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities

• Create and maintain the information architecture

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in a related field

• 4+ years of relevant experience

• Excellent written skills in English

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development

Remote/Telework Flexibility

Travel Requirements: 10-20%
